The concept and realisation of the Residence Centre Cankarjeva, founded and opened by the Public Fund for Cultural Activities of the Republic of Slovenia (JSKD), follow the example of similar institutions around the world, the mission of which is to aid and promote creativity. As an ambience that fosters the birth and implementation of new ideas, the Residence Centre Cankarjeva is primarily designed for artistic creativity and artistic production. Its infrastructure enables multidisciplinary work processes, thus complementing similar centres in our country and abroad.

At 5, Cankarjeva Street, this centre differs advantageously from other comparable centres by its location at the heart and pulse of the art life of the town and country. Its space capacities, combined with the required technical equipment, offer favourable conditions for artists from diverse cultural fields: it comprises two dwelling units, a multipurpose lecture room, a smaller hall for film and theatre performances, a studio and a specialised library.
