Festivals and events

Our annual festivals and meetings include approximately 700 theatre and puppetry shows with about 12,500 participating artists on all levels and in all categories. These performances visit around 100,000 spectators.

LINHARTOVO SREČANJE, NATIONAL FESTIVAL OF ADULT THEATRE

The closing festival is represented by the main theatre performance. The festival is a selection of performances by Slovenian amateur theaters and an overview of the amateur theatre activity in Slovenia and its neighboring countries. The annual Linhartovo srečanje concludes with the announcement of the winning performance and the award ceremony (the Matiček award) for special achievements to the best theatre group and individuals.  

GLEJ – ŠTUDENTEATER (festival of university student theatre groups)

Studentheatre is a programme initiated by Gledališče Glej and JSKD, to promote and evolve theatre art of non-theatre university students. Students annually present their work during the festival of the same name that is held at Glej theatre.

FESTIVAL VIZIJE (national festival of youth culture)

The youth culture festival annually presents the best youth theatre and puppetry shows, rock groups and individuals creating in the field of fine art which are placed to the festival by expert advisors. The festival jury chooses and awards the best individuals and groups with the Vizionar prizes.

NATIONAL FESTIVAL OF PUPPET THEATRE GROUPS

Puppet shows from Slovenia and its neighboring countries introduce themselves at this festival. It is simultaneously the selection of the best amateur puppet shows and an overview of the puppetry activity in Slovenia and of its neighbors.

NATIONAL FESTIVAL OF CHILDREN THEATRE GROUPS

Children theatre groups from Slovenia and its neighboring countries introduce themselves at this festival. It is simultaneously the selection of the best children theatre shows and an overview of the artistic work of children theatre groups in Slovenia and of its neighbors.

INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE OF EDUCATIONAL THEATRE AND DRAMA

The conference is an exchange point of experience, knowledge and good practices from the field of theatre pedagogy. Renowned Slovenian and foreign experts showcase the possibilities of using theatre pedagogy within the school curriculum, as well as the role of theatre pedagogy in social learning and the development of interpersonal relationships.
