WORKSHOPS AND PEDAGOGUES
CONTEMPORARY DANCE - Lotem Regev
Lotem Regev is a freelance dancer and choreographer based in Tel-Aviv. He started his professional career at the age of 19 with the Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company (Israel). Later on he joined the Batsheva Ensemble (Israel) where he studied Gaga for two yeas. Recently he finished dancing with the Göteborg Opera Dance Company (Sweden). Over the years Lotem has worked with choreographers such as Ohad Naharin, Sharon Eyal, Rami Be'er, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, Itzik Galilee, Franck Chartier, Barak Marshall and others. In 2008 Lotem started creating his own work while teaching movement research workshops around the world.
Lotem's class is an opportunity to explore new techniques and qualities through guided improvisation, based on ideas that Lotem has found throughout his career. At the end of each class Lotem will teach a combination from his own repertoire. You can choose between a beginners or advanced class.
CONTEMPORARY BALLET – Edward Clug
Edward Clug completed his ballet studies in 1991 at the National Ballet School in Cluj-Napoca (Romania). In the same year he was engaged as a soloist at the Slovene National Theatre (SNG) in Maribor. In 2003 he became the artistic director of the Ballet at the Slovene National Theatre in Maribor, leading the company towards new and distinctive directions. Throughout the past ten years, Clug drew the attention of the international audience, due to his specific choreographic style. He equally succeeded in putting the Maribor Ballet Ensemble on the international dancing map. He has participated in the largest theatre festivals throughout the world and has received awards for his choreographies at many international dance competitions and festivals. He received the highest Slovene prizes in culture for his work, the Award of the Prešeren Foundation in 2005 and the Glazer Charter in 2008. In 2010 he was nominated for Golden Mask in Moscow. This year he is creating for Zürich Ballet and NDT 2.
Edward's Contemporary Ballet is based on a high quality Ballet technique, which he upgraded with his unique dance style. He intertwines unpredictable dynamics, power, and energy and always anew creates different movement motives, which seem fragmented and minimalistic but are still musical. Choreographies are composed of small movements, who are like puzzles catching the right solution, which in the end stays unresolved.
His classes are appropriate only for dancers with a high level of dance technique.
MODERN – Kjara Starič Wurst
Kjara Starič Wurst is a choreographer, pedagogue and the artistic director of Kjara's Dance Project. She finished Ballet studies in Ljubljana and has also been intensively upgrading her knowledge of modern dance techniques. She danced in SPP under the leadership of Fred Lasser. In Slovenia and America she has collaborated with many choreographers. In 2010 she founded Kjara's Dance Project and successfully realised performances Odtisi, Compassion and Razpotja. She has received many awards for her choreographic works at various ballet and modern dance competitions both in Slovenia and abroad. She’s a jury member at the International Ballet Competition in San Remo, Italy and in Pula, Croatia. She tightly collaborates with the Ariston Proballet Company in Milano, where she will choreograph in the next season. She currently lives and works in Milano.
Kjara's Modern workshops intertwine modern dance technique, technically stylized ballet and broken lines of contemporary ballet. You will train the precision in execution of movement, interpretation of choreography and the volume that the body can occupy. You will get the chance to dance out fully on the background of different kinds of music. You can choose between an intermediate or advanced level.
CREATIVE DANCE WORKSHOP FOR CHILDREN – Saša Lončar
Saša Lončar keeps on upgrading her pedagogical mission. She is the founder, artistic director, pedagogue and choreographer of KD Qulenium in Kranj and Ljubljana. She organizes the festival Kalejdoskop and the Festival of Performing Art. Through creative processes, with exuberant imagination, openness, audacity and excellent feeling for guidance, she stimulates children’s dance creativity and enriches their personal movement expression.
Creative Dance Workshops for children – are intended for children (younger kids from 5 – 7 years, older kids from 8 - 11 years). Through imagination, creativity and ability of expression they will develop dance and movement skills, body awareness and strengthen their kinaesthetic competence. And in doing so, infinitely enjoy! The workshops last 60 minutes.
AFRICAN - CONTEMPORARY DANCE – Maša Kagao Knez

African - Contemporary dance
Maša's choreographic and pedagogical work is based on connecting contemporary dance techniques and West African dances. She directs attention on exploring different qualities. She is interested in how to stimulate dancers in order to achieve various possibilities of dance expression, with the help of mastering dance technique, the elements of African tradition (rhythmicity, movement motives…) and improvisation. Prior dance knowledge is desired but not obligatory.

DANCE DRAMATURGY - Andreja Kopač
Andreja Kopač is a publicist, dramaturge and PhD student of cultural sociology. Until now she has been active in different fields: as a coordinator of the Seminar of Contemporary Performing Arts, as a performer, moderator, selector and a researcher. Lately she is mostly active as a dramaturge (collaborated in more than 40 projects) and a co-worker at national and international art projects. Since January 2013 she has been a guest teacher on The Salzburg Experimental Academy of Dance SEAD. She also teaches on SVŠGL in Ljubljana. In 2013 she has received a reward called Plaque of Meta Vidmar, for her achievements in the art field.
The Dance Dramaturgy Workshop
The concept of Dance Dramaturgy covers more fields at the same time; but mainly it is defined by a somewhat reversed thought of a Belgium dramaturge Marianne van Keerkhoven, a former co-worker of the company Rosas: »Observing with a pencil in the hand«. As there are many different procedures of creation, so are as many different ways of dance dramaturgy. Text as well as the code of staging of dance performances namely arises each time anew; wherefore specific ways of thinking and collaborating. In this context dance dramaturgy is always »somewhere in between«, which assumes a constant blend of theory and practice, thought and action and demands regular articulation and dialogic criticism. The workshop is intended for all who are interested in this field or/and are encountering practical problems while making dance performances. It is desired that you bring existing material with you (on a dvd, or usb) and that you are mostly curious! With my experience in this field we will all together make steps forward and develop ideas and dance materials.
EMBODIED ANATOMY AND YOGA – Snježana Premuš
Snježana Premuš started her dance path at Plesna izba Maribor. In 1998 she completed her Masters at London Contemporary Dance School in contemporary dance and choreography and in 2012 finished the study of Embodied Anatomy and Yoga, with BMC principles, in Berlin. Since 1997 she has collaborated with many known artists in choreographic researches, improvisation festivals and projects: M.Tompkins, D.Zambrano, J.Hamilton, L.Nelson, I.Kovač, E.Claid, V.Globokar. Sebastijan Horvat. Her most noticeable works are Amplified Body with a berlin musician Ignaz Schick and a series of performances Stories about the body. Since 2009 she collaborates with the collective Federacija, which she co-founded together with A. Podrzavnik and G. Kamnikar and has been the director of it, since 2012. In the years 2009 – 2014 she is dedicated to collective work and her own project “Physical Manifestations”.
Embodied Anatomy and Yoga is a practice where we will combine the knowledge of embodied anatomy with asanas. It will be based on a fundamental principle: Support precedes movement. This way of working enables dancers more stability in dynamic moving, as well as a dynamic understanding of stability. Like this we deeply warm up, stimulate flexibility and build up strength; elements, which are important for moving without strain.
