TIP – Theatre Integrates PeopleInternational Summer Theatre WorkshopsIzola, August 25th to September 2nd 2012 Summer theatre workshops are a unique opportunity to gain and extend basic theatre knowledge. Internationally recognized mentors from Slovenia and abroad pass on their knowledge and, even more, their priceless experiences to the participants. Participants of these workshops thus have an opportunity to form their own independent theatre personality through work and discussion. 1. MUSICAL, music theatre – THEORETICAL AND PRACTICAL ASPECTS (worskhop leader: Miha Alujevič, Slovenia) The workshop will deal individual elements or parts of a musical needed to create the whole (singing, dance, costumes, scene, directing, music accompaniment …) The outcome of workshop will be performed scenes from world famous musicals (Grease, Cats, Phantom of the opera, Miss Saigon, Les miserables, The sound of music, Cabaret, Chigago, The wizard of Oz,…) by transferring theory to practice. Miha Alujevič, Slovenian actor, director and singer graduated Vienna musical school and Academy of dramatic Arts in Zagreb. He directs theatre, opera and musical performances in Slovenia, Austria and Croatia. 2. BASICS OF IMPROVISATION THEATRE (workshop leader: Sara Šoukal, Slovenia) The participants of the workshop will do different exercises and disciplines of the Improvisation theatre. Result of the workshop will be short impro-performance. Sara Šoukal is involved with Improvisation Theatre for more than 15 years. She works as an impro-league judge and a workshop leader. 3. SHAKESPEARE INTENSIVE – A PHYSICAL THEATER APPROACH TO SHAKESPEARE: This practical workshop is designed for actors of all levels and will focus on physical training, group improvisation and creating compositions from a non-text-based viewpoint. We will then incorporate Shakespeare texts into this mix, playing with text fragments and possibly short scenes. Eric Dean Scott is an actor, writer and director from New York City. He trained at the Experimental Theater Wing at New York University in the physical and experimental theatre techniques. 4. THE RAUCOUS PERFORMANCE LAB The Raucous Performance Lab is about igniting the creative process and stimulating your imagination as an artist. The workshop will explore various theatre techniques, an actor’s relation to the audience and the process of development of basic material for performance. Aviva Zimmerman is a director, an actress and a mentor from Toronto, Canada. She belongs to the new wave of Canadian theatre; she mainly works with alternative productions of drama texts. 5. ACTORS THEATRE – WORLD WITHOUT ACTING The topic of the workshop is creation of a theatre character for the performance. Based on the specifics of the role and mainly the individual we will look for character of the role, its background, characteristics. We will gradually upgrade the set character: behaviour of the character in different circumstances, relation to the others and the space. Predrag Stojmenović graduated theatre directing at Faculty of Drama in Belgrade and is one of the greatest directors of the young generation in Serbia. He is a professor at the Faculty of Drama in and also an art director of the theatre Dadov Beograd. He is the author of numerous anthological theatre performances. He places special attention to upbringing of young actors. As a mentor he takes part in many workshops and seminars in Serbia and abroad. 6. WRITING AND SPACE –WRITING IN SPACE The participants will try to create from words and from space, making theatre on paper and on stage; through movement, speech, with ideas and objects from ones pockets, drawers, old notebooks, old memories, and computer files. We’ll try to find a certain form for every idea, and try everything in front of the audience. Kim Komljanec is playwright and director. She’s post-graduated in play writing University of Exeter in Great Britain. She works in repertoire theatres in Slovenia, UK and USA.
