THEME:
1. I DANCE, BECAUSE …
2. WHATEVER
1 - I DANCE, BECAUSE …
I dance because for me dance is a space of beauty, freedom and creativity. It is a way of thinking, an expression of the unspeakable, it is learning and playing at the same time, it is a struggle, is is a pleasure, a way of life.
I want to build bridges with dance. Sometimes I dance to forget, sometimes to remember. I dance because I can't fly. I communicate my thoughts and ideas through dance. I resort to dancing because it provides me with comfort in times of grief.
Andy Warhol said he is into art because he is ugly and because he has nothing else to do.
Every creator wants to communicate an idea, invent something, provoke a reaction, make a statement, connect, change perspective.
To be able to think dance, I must first see and recognize it in my own skin. Dance thinks with the body and responds very directly to changes in society. It is a very credible indicator of our state of life. Moreover, contemporary dance never exists in isolation from the multitude of social changes, but is closely imbued with them. The Renaissance is the first historical period in which [they began to write about the nature and problem of dance extensively, and it is already clear from these writings that dance was also a means of suppressing society.
Art encourages us to look in a little more detail at social issues, at other people and their emotions, at the environment that surrounds us, and at everyday objects and life forms around us.
Maybe sometimes we take everything for granted and don’t even think about why we’re doing something. In fact, you should never stop wondering why do I do what I do. Why do I dance? What does dance do and how does it affect my life, society, relationships. What can dance do and what can it not do?
So why do I dance?
2 – WHATEVER
But if the theme above does not inspire you, you are free to do, well, whatever. Whatever is in you, whatever is around you, whatever you are looking for, whatever you are wondering about, whatever you doubt, whatever you are interested in…we are interested as well!
Guidelines for mentors and creators:
The required part of the creative process should include translating your ideas and procedures into words. The same as every year, you have to attach a description of your creative process to your application (literary origins, thoughts, procedures, decisions…). Think about it and work on it so as to genuinely delve into the depths of your short dance piece.
The theme is designed to offer a wide scope of possibilities to all artists, regardless of their age. Mentors should discuss it with young creators, while the latter should be autonomous and creative in shaping their ideas and pieces.
The role of mentors in creating the short dance piece is to counsel, lead and guide the young creators in creating their own ideas, dance expressions and autonomous choreographies.
Approach the theme with exploratory zeal and creative inspiration.
Think and work on it to really delve into the creation and formation of the short dance piece, thus meaningfully fulfilling the concept, process and results of your work.
